Calciumphos is the complementary feed specifically designed for growing foals and pregnant and lactating mares. It contains essential elements to maintain and improve the well-being of the skeletal and muscular apparatus of the horse, such as calcium, phosphorus, vitamin B12 and important amino acids such as L-lysine and L-threonine. Calciumphos is very useful after the 7th month of gestation to provide pregnant mares with the minerals necessary for the correct growth of the foal.
When to use Calciumphos:
Calciumphos is the specific product for those who want to improve the bioavailability of calcium and phosphorus in foals and mares during pregnancy and breastfeeding and strengthen their bones, to allow them to better withstand mechanical stress.
Components:
Calcium carbonate; Monocalcium phosphate; Yeasts and similar products; Maltodextrin.
Properties of its elements:
Calciumphos is a mixture of calcium (from calcium lactate) and phosphorus (from monocalcium phosphate, the only water-soluble source of phosphorus), with the addition of vitamin B12 and amino acids such as L-lysine and L-threonine. Vitamin B12 promotes the growth of foals with developmental delays. It is a vitamin that is completely absent from plant foods and must therefore be integrated into the diets of growing subjects. Vitamin B12 is an essential factor for the growth of all young animals, as it stimulates protein metabolism and the synthesis of nucleic acids (31,60). It is also recognised that vitamin B12 performs important functions in the context of reproduction and embryo development. L-lysine is the main deficiency amino acid and helps mares to stay physically toned after childbirth. L-lysine and L-threonine are also essential for horses that, after a break, resume competitive activity.
Use and Dose:
For foals:
Use 50-100g of Calciumphos per day, appropriately mixed with the daily ration, for a minimum period of 90-120 consecutive days. Calciumphos should be fed to the foal after weaning, for a minimum period of 3-4 months.
For pregnant mares:
From the 6th-7th month of pregnancy, use 100g of Calciumphos per day, appropriately mixed with the daily ration.
For lactating mares:
Use 150g of Calciumphos per day, appropriately mixed with the daily ration. Calciumphos should be administered for a minimum of 90 consecutive days until weaning of the foal.

The product has never shown any adverse reactions. However, given the specificity of each individual organism, it is always a good idea to test novel foods, gradually introducing them into the horse's diet to assess tolerance.
