Universal Animal Antidote GelUniversal Animal Antidote Gel (UAA Gel)
contains
activated charcoal for emerency treatment of poisoning of cattle, horses, goats, dogs,and cats due to oral ingestion of organic chemicals such as pesticides. Kaolin adds additional absorbing properties while protecting the intestional lining.
Contraindications:
There are no known absolute contraindications to the use of activated charcoal. It should not be given simultaneously or shortly before the oral administration of other therapeutic agents such as antibiotics, vitamins or amino acids. Antibiotic therapy should be administered parenterally when UAA Gel is used.
Dosage:
If animal is conscious and able to swallow, give recommended dosage as follows: 1 to 3 ml/kg (2.2 lbs) of body weight
If indicated, or necesssary, repeat the dosage of UAA Gel after 1 to 4 hours, or until symptoms subside, or as directed by a veterinarian
For cattle or horses, it is recommended that the animal be given 10 oz (300 ml) of UAA Gel, with appropriate follow up doses at 8 hour intervals, proper supportive therapies such as parenteral fliuds and injectable antidotes as indicated to counteract the physiological effects of the poison, are recommended as part of the treatment.
UAA Gel may not be effective against poisoning by mercury, other heavy metals, or inorganic arsenic.
